Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town (or shortened FoMt), is farming simulator game. Here we control a boy (Who is named Jack, but can be re-named at the start), who is trying to restore his old farmer friend’s farm. There are lots of things you can do in this game. You can go farming, fishing, mining, foraging, and be friends with the NPCs (Non Player Character).
There are 4 seasons here. Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. Each season lasts for 28 days. And each season have different crops to plant. For instance. In Spring, you can plant turnips and potatoes. But when Summer comes, those plants dry and we have to replace them with Summer crops. Like Corns or Tomatoes. Same goes for Fall. For winter, you can’t plant anything. Due to snow.
Other than plants, you can also have animals in your farm. Bees are animals you have since the start, so you don’t have to buy them. They make honey everyday. You can also get chicken from the Poultry Farm. There are two stages of chickens. Baby and Adult, they will only produce eggs when adult. There are also cows and sheep here, they are sold at the Yodel Farm. Chickens, cows and sheep can get sick if not fed. They also each have a competition to see which one is the best. Finally, there’s the horse. Horse doesn’t need to be fed, they just need to get brushed and given affection.
Although it takes almost ages, fishing is something very interesting to do. There are lots of different kinds of fishes. We can fish almost anywhere with water. You can even fish at the public hot springs. The fishing pole is given by Zack, who lives on the beach.
Another thing you can do is mining. There are two mines in this game. The spring mine and the winter mine. The spring mine is available everyday. While on the other hand, the winter mine is in the middle of a lake, so we have to wait until winter for the lake to get frozen. You can mine bronze, silver, gold, and others in the spring mine. While you can mine different rare items (Which have very unique and weird names that are pretty hard to remember) in the winter mine.
Let’s just say that if you go to the right, you’ll be in the town. And if you go to the left, you’ll go to the mountains. There are lot’s of thing in the mountains including the two mines (Spring mine and Winter mine). There are colorful grass (That looks a lot like leaves) and also different types of flowers.
The town is full of people! There are lots of NPCs that you can be friend with. They each have their own birth date where we can give them gifts they like. That will boost their friendship points. There are special dates that you may want to know. There are festivals every few weeks or days. Like the horse race festival, fireworks festival, thanksgiving festival, and lots more.
There are two versions of this game. Harvest Moon: FoMt (Friends of Mineral Town) and Harvest Moon: MFoMT (More Friends of Mineral Town). When FoMT is about a boy who is trying to restore his friends farm. MFoMT is about a girl and a false ad (Which is actually hilarious).
This game is actually a game for GameBoy (a console), but I play using an emulator.
